Should I get a 25 ft or 50 ft cord?

Pick the length that reliably reaches the pedestal at your usual slip with some slack for tide and boat movement. Avoid joining cords together, since every extra connection is another place for heat to build. If you travel, a longer cord covers more slips.

When is it time to replace a shore power cord?

Replace it if the jacket is cracked, cut, or flattened, or if either plug end is discolored, melted, or corroded. Those are signs of heat or water damage that can spread to the inlet. Our shore power service page covers what we inspect.
