B&G Radar FAQ
Where should radar go on a sailboat?
The two common spots are a mast bracket and a stern pole or arch. A mast mount gets more height but needs a guard to keep sails and halyards from fouling it, and the cable has to run inside the mast. A stern mount is easier to service but sits lower. See our electronic navigation installation page for how we plan it.
What is the difference between Halo and Broadband?
Both are solid-state radars, so neither has a magnetron to warm up or wear out. Broadband is the earlier generation, known for low power draw and a clean short-range picture. Halo is the newer line with more range and features.
Will it work with my Zeus plotter?
Yes. Halo and Broadband are designed to run on B&G displays, including the radar overlay on the chart. Radar is generally brand-specific, so check our B&G chartplotters if your current plotter is another make.
