Scanstrut Antenna Mounts FAQ
Where should I mount a GPS antenna?
Give it a clear view of the sky, with nothing overhead. Keep it out of the radar beam and away from VHF and other transmitting antennas where you can. A rail or T-bar mount lets you place it where it sees the sky best.
Should a rail mount or T-bar mount go on my boat?
A rail mount clamps onto an existing rail, so it's a good fit when you have a rail in the right place and want to avoid drilling. A T-bar mount suits a flat surface or holds an antenna clear of other gear. Pick whichever puts the antenna in the best spot on your boat.
How do I route the antenna cable below deck?
Use a proper deck seal rather than a sealed-up hole, and leave a drip loop so water runs off before it reaches the penetration. Scanstrut cable seals let the cable pass through with its connector on.
