Blue Sea Accessories & USB Chargers FAQ
Does a new USB charger need its own fuse?
Yes. Any new outlet should be fed from a breaker or fuse sized to the wire supplying it, not spliced into a nearby circuit. A spare position on a fuse block is usually the easiest source.
Which voltage version should I buy?
Match the charger to your boat's DC system voltage. Most boats are 12V; some larger boats run 24V, and 48V versions suit boats with a 48V system. If you're not sure what you have, check the battery bank configuration before ordering.
Will a USB charger drain my batteries?
Many USB chargers draw a small amount of current even with nothing plugged in. On a boat that sits for weeks, put the outlet on a switched circuit so it can be turned off. A panel switch or breaker from our switches collection handles that.
