Blue Sea Circuit Breakers

Blue Sea Systems Circuit Breakers in Annapolis

Blue Sea circuit breakers for marine DC and AC circuits, including A-Series toggle breakers, Magnetic World breakers for AC/DC panels, and 285-Series surface-mount breakers. A breaker protects the wire, not the load, so it has to be sized to the conductor it feeds and mounted as close to the power source as practical.

Not sure which rating or style you need? Call (410) 263-0807 and we'll help you match the breaker to your wiring. We install Blue Sea breakers and panels throughout Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay.

Blue Sea Circuit Breakers FAQ

Can I use any breaker on an AC circuit?

No. A breaker has to be rated for the type of circuit, AC or DC, and for its voltage. Check the rating on the breaker before putting it in an AC panel, and don't swap a DC-only breaker into a shore power circuit.

Should I use a surface-mount or panel-mount breaker?

Panel breakers live in the distribution panel and protect branch circuits. Surface-mount breakers like the 285-Series bolt to a bulkhead near the power source and protect heavier feeds, such as a windlass or the cable to a sub-panel. See electrical panels if you're replacing the whole panel.

What should the main shore power breaker do?

On a typical 120V shore power system, the main breaker should open both the hot and the neutral at the same time. That's a double-pole breaker, and it's one reason we look closely at older boats with single-pole mains. Our shore power service page covers what we check.
