Egis Fuse Blocks & Fuses FAQ
When does an MRBF terminal fuse block make sense?
An MRBF block mounts right on the battery post, which puts the fuse about as close to the battery as it can get. It's a good fit where there isn't room for a separate fuse holder near the bank. The main feed fuse should be as close to the battery as possible, and ABYC generally calls for it within 7 inches.
Fuse block or breaker panel for branch circuits?
A fuse block is compact and inexpensive, and works well for circuits you rarely touch. Breakers cost more but reset without spare fuses and can double as an on/off switch. If you want that convenience, look at Egis circuit breakers.
What does the LED indication on a fuse block do?
On fuse blocks with LED indication, a light shows which fuse has blown, so you can find it without pulling every fuse in a dark locker. A blown fuse still means something went wrong on that circuit, so track down the cause before replacing it.
