ARCO Marine — High-Output Alternators Built for Demanding Marine Use
ARCO Marine is the industry leader in high-output marine alternators, engineered specifically for the punishing demands of the saltwater environment. Whether you're upgrading a cruising sailboat to support a lithium house bank or building out a sportfish with serious house loads, ARCO's marine-grade alternators deliver the charging capacity modern boats require. ARCO also builds replacement starters, tilt and trim motors, solenoids, and ignition parts for most inboard and outboard engines.
Why ARCO Marine
Every ARCO alternator is purpose-built for the marine environment — sealed bearings, isolated grounds, corrosion-resistant housings, and balanced rotors engineered for the heat and vibration of an engine room. Unlike automotive units adapted for boat use, ARCO products are designed from the ground up for continuous high-output duty cycles, common on cruising vessels with large battery banks.
Professional Installation & Charging System Design
Pairing the right ARCO alternator with your battery bank requires careful matching of output, voltage regulation, and belt drive capacity. Our team designs and installs complete high-output charging systems — alternator, external regulator (Wakespeed or Balmar), and proper wiring infrastructure — to safely deliver maximum current to lithium or AGM banks. ARCO Marine FAQ
What is the difference between Zeus and ARCO replacement alternators?
Zeus alternators are high-output units built to charge large house banks, especially lithium, and are run by an external regulator. Replacement alternators are made to replace the engine's original alternator for normal starting-battery charging.
Do I need an external regulator?
For a high-output charging system, yes. The external regulator controls the charge to match your battery chemistry and protects the alternator from overheating under long, heavy charging. See the Zeus regulator; harnesses, temperature sensors, and shunts are in Zeus charging accessories.
Will a bigger alternator work on my engine?
Not always. A high-output alternator needs a mount that fits your engine, and the belt drive has to carry the load; a single V-belt can slip or wear quickly at high output. Larger alternators may need a serpentine belt kit or bracket. Check the mount style before you order.
How do I find the right starter or part for my engine?
Match by engine make, model, and year or serial number. The ARCO part number is shown in brackets in each product title. Call (410) 263-0807 with your engine details and we will help you find the right part, or contact us about a charging system install.
