Egis Mobile Electric — Marine DC Power Distribution & Circuit Protection

Egis Mobile Electric (formerly known as BEP Marine) is the gold standard for marine DC distribution. From battery switches and ANL fuse blocks to digital switching and contactors, Egis components form the backbone of safe, code-compliant marine electrical systems on cruising boats, sportfish, and commercial vessels.

Why Egis Mobile Electric

Marine DC systems demand components engineered for vibration, saltwater corrosion, and the high inrush currents of modern lithium batteries and bow thrusters. Egis builds to ABYC standards and exceeds them — IP66-rated enclosures, marine-grade tin-plated copper bus, and current ratings backed by independent third-party testing. When the surveyor inspects your panel, Egis components pass without conversation.

Code-Compliant Panel Builds & DC System Upgrades

Egis components are a foundation, not a finished system. We design and build complete DC distribution panels — battery banks, BMS-controlled lithium disconnects, MRBF-protected positive feeds, and clean, labeled, surveyor-ready wiring. If you're upgrading to lithium, adding solar, or rebuilding a tired DC panel, our team can spec and install the right Egis configuration for your vessel. Egis Mobile Electric FAQ

Hydraulic-magnetic or thermal breaker: which do I need?

Thermal breakers trip on heat, so a hot engine room can make them trip early. Hydraulic-magnetic breakers hold a steadier trip point regardless of temperature and are common on main feeds and high-current loads. Either way, size the breaker to protect the wire. Shop circuit breakers.

What fuse goes at the battery?

The main positive feed needs overcurrent protection as close to the battery as possible; ABYC generally calls for it within 7 inches. MRBF terminal fuses mount right on the battery post, and Class T fuses are common on lithium banks where available fault current is high. Shop fuse blocks & fuses.

When do I need a contactor instead of a switch?

Use a contactor when a high-current circuit has to be switched remotely, such as a windlass, a bow thruster, or a lithium BMS that needs to disconnect the bank. Shop relays & contactors.

Can you build or upgrade my DC panel?

Yes. We design and install DC distribution throughout Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay. Call (410) 263-0807 or contact us.
