ARCO Zeus High-Output Alternators FAQ
How do I know which mount style fits my engine?
Each product title names the mount style (J180, 3.15, N62, single foot, Vortec, or Transit) and lists the ARCO part number in brackets. Match the mount to the bracket on your engine, and compare against the alternator you're replacing if you're unsure. Mounting kits for some engines are in Zeus charging accessories.
Should I choose a case-ground or isolated-ground alternator?
A case-ground alternator uses its housing and the engine block as the negative path. An isolated-ground alternator has its own negative terminal, so the housing isn't part of the circuit. Match the ground type to how your engine and boat are wired, and call us before ordering if you're not sure which you have.
Will my existing belt handle a high-output alternator?
Often it won't. A high-output alternator puts much more load on the belt, and a single V-belt can slip, squeal, and wear quickly. Many installs need a serpentine or multi-groove belt and pulley, which we sort out as part of a high-output alternator install.
