Marinco 12V & Trolling FAQ

Does a new 12V or USB outlet need its own fuse?

Yes. Every new circuit needs overcurrent protection sized to the wire, as close to the power source as practical. Run it from a fused branch on the panel rather than tapping into another circuit.

How do I pick a trolling motor plug?

Match the plug and receptacle to the motor's voltage and current draw, and size the wire for the full length of the run so the motor doesn't lose power to voltage drop. The wiring kits combine the plug, receptacle, and wiring for 24V and 36V setups.

Will a USB charger drain my batteries?

Some chargers draw a small current even with nothing plugged in. If the boat sits for weeks, put the outlet on a switched circuit or turn off the battery switch when you leave.
