What matters most when re-terminating a cord?
Clean, tight connections. Strip the conductors to the right length, seat them fully, and tighten the terminals properly, because a loose connection is what causes heat damage at shore power plugs. Check that the cord jacket is clamped firmly in the strain relief.
Does an adapter change how much power I can use?
No. An adapter only changes the plug shape, and the lowest-rated part of the connection sets the limit. A 50A boat on a 30A pedestal through an adapter still only has 30A available, so manage your loads accordingly. Our cordsets can avoid an adapter altogether if you mostly use one type of pedestal.
