Can I put a new end on my old cord?
Yes, if the cord jacket and conductors are in good condition. Cut back past any discolored or stiff copper, strip cleanly, and torque the terminal screws to spec. If the damage runs far up the cord, a new cordset is the better fix.
Why use a weatherproof cover or sealing collar?
Water and salt in the connection cause corrosion, which raises resistance and heat. A threaded sealing ring or cover keeps spray out of the plug-to-inlet joint while the cord is connected.
Do the plug and inlet have to match?
Yes. The amperage, voltage, and blade configuration must match on both sides of every connection. If you need to connect to a different pedestal type, use an adapter rather than mixing parts.
