B&G Chartplotters FAQ

Should I choose a Zeus 3S or a Vulcan?

Vulcan is the simpler, lower-cost B&G plotter and suits smaller boats and owners who mainly want charts and sailing data. Zeus 3S is the full-featured option for boats running radar, sonar, autopilot, and a larger network. Zeus 3S Glass Helm is meant for bigger helms built around large screens.

Where should a chartplotter go on a sailboat?

Most owners want it at the wheel, on a pedestal guard or pod, where the helmsman can see it without leaving the wheel. A plotter at the nav station is useful for planning but not for steering. Make sure the screen is readable in sun from where you actually stand.

Will a B&G plotter work with my existing instruments?

Wind, depth, speed, and GPS data on an NMEA 2000 network can usually be shared, even from other brands. You get the most out of SailSteer and laylines with accurate, calibrated data from B&G instruments.
