Egis Busbars & Connectors FAQ
How many cables can I land on one stud?
ABYC limits a single terminal stud to four conductors. If you need more connections than that, add a busbar instead of stacking more lugs. It also makes the system much easier to inspect and troubleshoot.
How do I size a busbar?
The busbar's current rating has to cover the total current flowing through it, not just the largest single circuit. Also check that the stud sizes match the ring terminals on your cables. Our Ancor terminals & connectors cover most common stud sizes.
Do I need separate positive and negative busbars?
Yes. Positive and negative distribution should be on separate, clearly labeled busbars, and the positive side should be covered so a dropped tool can't short it. Feed the positive busbar through a fuse or breaker sized for the cable supplying it.
