Do UV-resistant cable ties really matter?
Outside, yes. Standard natural-color ties go brittle in sunlight and snap, and the wiring they held starts to sag and chafe. Use UV-resistant ties anywhere the sun reaches, on deck, on the arch, and in the cockpit.
What do I need to seal a wire through the deck?
A watertight wire seal sized to the cable, a properly sealed hole, and on a cored deck, the core sealed off around the penetration so water can't migrate into it. Bed the seal in a marine sealant. If the cable has a connector on it, look at Scanstrut cable seals, which let the connector pass through.
