What is a Galvanic Isolator?
A galvanic isolator is an asset for boats of all kinds. It provides additional protection for your vessel when you’re plugged into the Alternating Current (AC) shore power system. The isolator is located between the inlet and the main panel. It extends your boat’s zinc projection and reduces future repairs. The galvanic isolator blocks low Direct Current (DC) voltage from the shore power ground conductor. It prevents up to 1.2 volts from passing through the wiring, minimizing potential risks. Low voltage currents are extremely harmful and could cause corrosion to the underwater metals. This condition is known as galvanic corrosion.
